Death.
It is what comes to all things that live in the human realm. Life is so temporary, so fleeting. For those who are immortal, a human’s lifetime is but a microscopic dent in the timeline. A human’s lifespan can be so unpredictable. Some lives unfairly cut short, but despite unfairness it is but the way things must be. Some humans believe in a higher power, ones who decide the fate of all who inhabit the earth. What if i was to say that they were correct? Down below, in the deepest depths of a place unknown, there might just be those who rule over the fates of those whose lives are coming to their ends.
And if i told you this was correct, would you wonder what they would see? What would they think? Who they even are?The human body holds what one would call a ‘soul’. It goes beyond your brain or your heart. It is not in your bones, your organs, or even your mind. The human soul holds so much more than just one's being. It holds all your memories, your feelings, your morality, and your passions.Look inside yourself, now, if someone was to peer into your soul… what would you wish for them to see?Those who decide your fate, they see it all. They lack bias, compassion, and feeling. Day after day, soul after soul, deciding who deserves to suffer for their eternity and who is worthy of redemption and grace. Based solely on the memories and quality of the soul they collect. Numb to the nuances of the human race.Totally, utterly, and completely numb.Until now.What if a reaper began to grow curious? What if there was a reaper who simply wasn't so desensitized to death? A reaper who had an insatiable appetite for human life? The shape of the teeth and their overall arrangement.Did you know that they are quite ideal for forensic body recognition? The reaper did find that fact to be rather fascinating. So much so that teeth became quite collectable to them.“But all-knowing narrator! What would happen when mementos are no longer enough?”Good question, dear reader!Simply speaking, I believe they would begin to live amongst you.
